The Benefits of Ayurvedic Relaxation Therapy at Suvarnaveda Wellness Spa in Thailand

Ayurvedic Relaxation Therapy

Despite being distinct beings, the body and mind are mirrors of one another. Every physical health issue originates in the mind. Our physical bodies are a reflection of our psychological anxieties and mental stress. The goal of the Ayurvedic approach to stress management is to improve overall body relaxation while reducing tension in the neurological system.

At Suvarnaveda, we strive for holistic health ideas. A holistic approach is provided by Ayurvedic treatments which consists of reducing stress in the brain and nerves, healthy eating, yoga, pranayama, meditation, and lifestyle modifications.

Shirodhara and Abhyangam - these are the two ayurvedic therapies which aer indivisible components of Relaxation therapy that happens in Suvarnaveda Wellness Center, Thailand.

The peaceful atmosphere at our center not only nurtures your body & mind but also resets your physical - bio rhythms and mental equilibrium.

Relaxation Therapy 1: Shirodhara

Shirodhara is a unique and powerful therapy that balances and stabilizes the mind.

In this treatment, one lies down on the table with their eyes covered. Next, specially prepared warm herbal oil/concoction is poured in a thin steady stream directly onto the forehead. The stream of warm concoction used for Shirodhara creates vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) of all the channels and thereby improves the blood circulation of the brain.

How does Shirodhara help in relaxation?

Shirodhara takes us into a deep relaxation mode. Gentle pressure and soothing warmth of the oil allows the body, mind and nervous system to experience a deep state of rest. It boosts deep relaxation, alleviates fatigue, renews and invigorates your system.

Shirodhara also improves sleep quality by reducing the level of stress hormones such as Adrenalin and Noradrenaline and thus relaxing the mind.

Pouring of warm oils stimulates and soothes the hypothalamus, thereby regulating the  the functions of pituitary gland and inducing sleep.

Relaxation Therapy 2: Abhyangam

Abhyangam is a principle healing tool in Ayurvedic healing modality.

Abhi means towards, upon.

Anjana means to smear body with oil.

Abhyanga is a oil massage therapy for whole body.

According to Ayurveda, Abhyangam should be performed on a daily basis. Abhyangam is a unique and very helpful oil massage therapy in which two therapists thoroughly massage a patient using a generous amount of herbal oil appropriate for their condition.

While the strong strokes encourage the body's blood and lymphatic circulation, the benefits of the active ingredient in the herbs are distributed throughout the body and absorbed by the skin throughout the massage. This allows the active ingredient in the herbs to reach all the targeted parts of the body.

Benefits of Abhyangam

It is advised to practise Abhyangam every day to keep up physical fitness. It shields the body against the negative consequences of seasonal fluctuations in various seasons.
Abhyangam is advised prior to activities in order to relieve muscle soreness, stiffness, etc. Abhyangam is also advised following travel to alleviate the affects of jet lag, water retention, aches and pains.

It eliminates stiffness and heaviness and enhances strength, mobility, flexibility and memory. Rejuvenation and revitalisation are two long-term advantages of Abhyangam.
